Effect of Pineapple Peel Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) Application on the Growth and Yield of Green Lettuce Plants (Lactuca sativa L.)
Abstract
the increases of population and public awareness of health, increasing lettuce production needs to be supported by organic cultivation technology, including the use of organic fertilizer. Pineapple peel that can no longer be consumed can be used to make liquid organic fertilizer (LOF). This research aimed to study the effect of concentrations of pineapple peel LOF on the growth and production of green lettuce. This research was conducted from January to March 2023 at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, UniversitasMuhammadiyah Jakarta. The research design used was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with six treatment levels, namely: 1.125 g NPK/polybag (control), 2.5% concentration of pineapple peel LOF, 5% concentration of pineapple peel LOF, 7.5% concentration of pineapple peel LOF, 10% concentration of pineapple peel LOF, and 12.5% concentration of pineapple peel LOF. The results showed that the treatment of pineapple peel LOF with concentrations of 2.5-12.5% and with a dose of 100 mL/plant was not able to meet the nutrient needs to support the growth and production of green lettuce, and have not been able to compete with the effect of NPK 16:16:16 with a dose of 1.125 g/polybag as a control.
